Flying for a Special Cause

This year Textron Aviation is inviting Cessna Citation, Beechcraft King Air, Beechcraft Premier, Beechcraft Beechjet, and Hawker aircraft owners to give back to a wonderful cause and donate the use of their aircraft to the Special Olympics Airlift in order to transport athletes to the Special Olympic Games. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for athletes, many of whom have never left their hometowns or traveled by plane. The Special Olympics provides athletic competition to youth and adults with intellectual disabilities, and the opportunity to engage with others and the community.

This is the 8th year that Textron Aviation has organized the Airlift, which helps athletes and coaches attend, as transportation is typically the biggest hurdle in reaching the games. The Airlift has helped thousands of athletes reach the games.

Athletes travel from all over the country and there are multiple locations for pick up. Textron is asking volunteers to fly a two-pilot crew and complete both legs of the journey. This year the games will be hosted June 5-12 in Orlando, Florida, and will include 20 different sports and athletes from all 50 states and Puerto Rico. It also may be considered a tax-deductible benefit as a charitable contribution and is a great opportunity to connect with the community. To learn more or sign up, click here.
